Vincent Van Gogh (1853–1890)
Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter whose emotionally charged and vividly colored works had a profound influence on 20th-century art. Born in the Netherlands in 1853, Van Gogh initially pursued careers in the church and as an art dealer before turning to painting in his late twenties.
In just over a decade, Van Gogh created more than 2,000 artworks, pouring his emotions into every brushstroke. His style, now celebrated for its swirling forms, vivid palettes, and tactile energy, was groundbreaking. Works like Starry Night, The Bedroom, and his series of Sunflowers are not just paintings—they are windows into the mind of a man who felt the world deeply.
Van Gogh’s artistic journey led him through the Dutch countryside, the sun-drenched fields of Arles, and the quiet halls of a French asylum. He painted peasants with dignity, landscapes with reverence, and himself with brutal honesty. Though unrecognized in his lifetime, his legacy now burns brightly as a beacon of raw artistic vision.
Vincent van Gogh died at the age of 37, leaving behind a body of work that continues to move and inspire.
